Sri Lanka Squad train in Kandy ahead of Champions Trophy 2017

Sri Lanka 15 Men Cricketers who got their place in the Squad for the champions Trophy will head to Kandy on 8th May Monday to begin a Training camp just ahead of the champions trophy cricket tournament. The Training camp of the sri lanka team will be head at Pallekele International stadium and SLC will open an indoor training facility too.

Asanka Gurusinha, Sri Lanka’s Team Manager, told Cricbuzz. “Our main aim is to get the team together. Graham Ford, our Head Coach, is focusing a lot on on fielding and fitness. We have been training in Colombo as well for the last few days, but this residential camp in Kandy will help us in many ways,”

“The indoor nets are a good addition to our training. We will do a lot of planning as well looking at each of our opponents in the Champions Trophy.”

Skipper of Angelo mathews join the Squad on 9th May as they are currently in the ipl. “Angelo is joining us on Tuesday and as for Lasith Malinga, we are taking day by day with him,” Gurusinha revealed. “The best thing for us is to have him playing as much as possible. Mahela Jayawardene, who is Mumbai Indians coach, has been a huge help for us. He has been generous to help us in getting Lasith fit for the Champions Trophy. As for Lasith, he is looking forward for the challenge in England and he is going to be the X-Factor for us in the Champions Trophy.”

Malinga who not played any odi cricket since the november 2015 due to injuries but still they feature this year in the twenty20 cricket.

“Our physios are chatting to him and most probably he will join us just before we leave for England,” Gurusinha said. “In England we have four warm-up games and we expect him to play in three of those games. We are looking at him bowling eight to ten overs in those warm-up games and the plan is to have him fully fit by 3rd June.”
